It was great to see several of your joining us on Collaborate today. As usual, here is the summary for what's been discussed to share with you. I hope you find them useful.

Q: When the Assignment 1: Introduction and Literature Review is due?

A: 9/30/2018, Sunday.  Each module has different length.  Some are one module one week; while some are longer.

Q: How many pages/words for Introduction and Literature Review sections?

A: Check the journal you selected from our discussion. 

·         Review its manuscript length requirements.

·         Determine how you may appropriate different sections.

·         We, as junior researchers, tend to have fairly large literature review since you have done a thorough literature review.  Publication and dissertation writings are different.  Publication writing is to write for other professionals to understand our study. Dissertation writing is to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in conducting research.

Q: I don't any existing work to use.

Q: I don't have the result from my study yet.

A:  There are few options you can consider.  Based on your literature review, you can do one of options below.

  • Option A: Propose a study
    •  Propose your research questions.
    • Method section: 
      • Propose a research method to answer your research questions.
    • Results section: 
      • Discuss the anticipated results, more like your assumptions.
    • Discussion section: 
      • Discuss how this anticipated result may be critical to the research topic.  
      • Limitation or weaknesses
    • Conclusion section:
      • Conclude & summarize your manuscript.
  • Option B: Propose a Conceptual Framework
    • Method section
      • Explain your proposed conceptual framework or construct
      • Provide references to support your arguments
      • If relevant, you can draw a figure, a chart etc. to represent your conceptual framework
    • Discussion section
      • Explain the role & the meaning of this proposed conceptual framework
      • What does it mean to different stakeholders: educators, researchers, practitioners etc. 
      • Limitation or weaknesses
    • Conclusion section
      • Conclude & summarize your manuscript.
  • Option C: Propose a model
    • Method section
      • Explain your proposed model
      • Provide references to support your arguments
      • If relevant, you can draw a figure, a chart etc. to represent your model
    • Discussion section
      • Explain the role & the meaning of this proposed conceptual framework
      • What does it mean to different stakeholders: educators, researchers, practitioners etc. 
      • Limitation or weaknesses
      • If relevant, you can provide a practical guide based on your proposed model
        • EX: You may propose a practical guide for mobile learning practical guide for classroom teachers etc.
    • Conclusion section
      • Conclude & summarize your manuscript.
